England announced the ODI and T20I squads for the series against West Indies with Will Jacks returning to the limited-overs set-up, having last played in a white-ball series against the Caribbean team in November 2024. Matthew Potts has also been included in both squads - he played played an ODI against Australia in September 2024 while his previous T20I outing was against New Zealand in December 2024.

In Harry Brook's first captaincy assignment, England also welcomed Tom Hartley back into the ODI squad after the spinner last played for them in September 2023. Meanwhile, Liam Dawson and Luke Wood, who last played T20Is for England in September 2022 and September 2023, are back in the T20I squad.

Brydon Carse is also part of both squads, having exited the Champions Trophy early due to a toe injury. Rehan Ahmed, who was Carse's replacement for the multi-team tournament, does not find a spot in the ODI squad but has been included for the T20Is.

Among the England players who featured in the Champions Trophy squad, 12 members have been retained for the West Indies ODIs. Mark Wood is one of the exclusions, having been ruled out for four months following a knee surgery in March. The other exclusions are Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone.

Salt and Livingstone are with Royal Challengers Bengaluru while Buttler is part of Gujarat Titans, with both teams expected to feature in the playoffs of the IPL. Jacks, who plies his trade for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, too could be part of the playoffs with MI in with a strong chance to make the playoffs. The tournament had to be rescheduled owing to border tensions between India and Pakistan, with the final now scheduled on June 3.

Salt, however, will join England for the T20I leg of the series against West Indies but Livingstone is out for the 20-over format as well. Among those who featured in the five-match T20I series against India earlier this year, Archer, Gus Atkinson, Smith and Mark Wood are the other exclusions.
